Ship Abula

Posted

Built at Haddam, Connecticut, in 1805, the ship Abula sailed out of New York as a neutral trader. Marine artist Nicolas Cammillieri painted this view of her arriving at Marseilles, France, in May 1806, with her typical mix of white and black sailors busy taking in sail.
