Shattered hearthstone

This 18-pound iron cannonball, fired by the British during the Battle of Stonington, landed in the Old Trumbull House in the village. Likely crashing through the roof, it shattered this hearthstone on impact. It survives as a reminder of the dangers of the attack, which placed Stonington’s citizens and their property in harm’s way.
