THE ROCKETS’ RED GLARE ~ Connecticut and the War of 1812

During its bicentennial year, explore an important turning point in the state and nation’s history through the book and exhibition developed by a collaboration of Mystic Seaport, the Stonington Historical Society, the New London County Historical Society, the New London Maritime Society, and the Lyman Allyn Art Museum.


Book Launch and Celebration ~ Friday 8 June, 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm

Book-signing and reception to celebrate the launch of The Rockets’ Red Glare book.

July 2012

Exhibition Opening Reception ~ Friday 6 July, 6 pm to 8 pm

Join us for our opening and a reception sponsored by CONNECTICUT EXPLORED magazine.

A curator’s tour will be conducted by Fred Calabretta, Curator of Collections, Mystic Seaport Museum, and guest curator for this exhibit.

October 2012

Thames River Cruise ~ Saturday 20 October, 12:30 pm to 4 pm

Learn more about the War of 1812 and visit the site of Stephen Decatur’s harbor of refuge during this afternoon cruise of the Thames River from New London to Norwich and back. Fall foliage at its peak, wine tasting, music of the War of 1812 on the 200 passenger Block Island Ferry boat.
